Katy Perry and Santa get a massage in ‘Cozy Little Christmas’ video

The popstar dropped the video for the song nearly one year after its original release

Katy Perry dropped the video for the song Cozy Little Christmas yesterday, nearly one year after the song’s original release. Cozy Little Christmas was released in November 2018 as an Amazon Music exclusive and distributed to all platforms on November 1, 2019.

In the video, directed by WATTS, we see the popstar spending some quality time with Santa: choosing a warmer climate for the holidays, the two drink together, have some fun by the pool and they even get a massage.

Cozy Little Christmas was written by Perry, Ferras Algais and Greg Wells, who also produced the song. The inspiration comes from a Christmas trip in Copenhagen that the singer-songwriter had with her family. Cozy Little Christmas is a quite traditional, feel-good tune about the importance of bonds and the superfluity of expensive gifts. In the chorus, Perry sings “I don’t need diamonds, no sparkly things (no, oh, oh, oh, oh) / ‘Cause you can’t buy this a-feeling (no, oh, oh, oh, oh) / Nothing lights my fire or wraps me up, baby, like you do / Just want a cozy, a cozy little Christmas here with you” echoing people’s old favorite All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.

Katy Perry’s new video got over 2 million views on YouTube in 24 hours.
