Comedy, drama and romance for your consideration

All new films and TV shows are coming our way on streaming platforms, given that we can’t go to the cinema at the moment. How to navigate the variety of productions that everyone is offering? Let’s start from films, specifically from some new titles that arrived on Amazon Prime Video some weeks ago.

There are some must-watch movies everyone is talking about and that are worth our free time. From Regina King’s directorial debut to the latest work by Alan Ball, here’s a selection of four films, spanning from drama to romance for your consideration.

Led by the fantastic performances by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Leslie Odom Jr. and Aldis Hodge, One Night in Miami is one of the new year’s must watch.

Sylvie’s Love – Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha. Credits/ Amazon Studios

Sylvie’s Love (2020)

Directed by: Eugene Ashe

Starring: Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Eva Longoria.

After a short flashfoward in 1962, this film by Eugene Ashe really starts in 1957 when Sylvie, an aspiring TV producer meets Robert, a saxophonist, in her father’s record store. We know it’s love at first sight, but this is an old-school tale about separation and reunion that needs its time to be fully told.
