Casablanca: Humphrey Bogart meets burritos

Delicious Mexican cuisine in Venice Beach

When you’re in love with Hollywood and you also have a passion for food, great things happen. Carlos Haro Sr. loved the movie Casablanca and he decided to combine his love for Michael Curtiz blockbuster with his passion for Mexican cuisine: in 1980 he founded a restaurant, in Venice Beach, named after the famous film with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

Located less than 1 mile away from Venice Beach Boardwalk, Casablanca cinema-themed restaurant features a large collection of memorabilia from the film (you’ll find also a life size statue of Humphrey Bogart).

But let’s talk about the menu: since the 80s, the restaurant kept the tradition offering excellent Mexican food thanks to Carlos Jr., Haro’s son, who followed in his father’s footsteps introducing also new exquisite dishes.

Casablanca is renewed for its Calamari Steak and its world famous flour tortillas, made right in front of your eyes: they’re served at your table with a special salsa made with avocado, cilantro and cheese.

This place is also highly recommended if you are a burrito lover: Casablanca’s menu is full of large yummy options (personally I love the Sam Burrito prepared with shredded chicken, onions, bell peppers and tomatoes).

For drinks aficionados, the restaurant offers also one of the largest selections of tequila in the world: you can enjoy one of their 250 options at Rick’s Tequileria or ask for the Tequila Express service (margaritas made with premium tequilas brought at your table side).

Don’t miss this place if you’re visiting Venice Beach.
